Leadership
John Walsh is the founder of Community4learning Inc. (C4L)
An educator for more than 30 years, he spent the first 25 years in the classroom teaching sciences, and the last five as Head of Community and Learning Partnerships at St. Michael’s College School in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, an independent, Catholic school for boys in Grades 7 to 12. Outside the classroom, John served as teacher-moderator of numerous clubs and activities including student government and student video announcements.
He also coached athletic teams (hockey, football and track), coordinated major school events (graduation formal and Christmas in the Courtyard) and acted as the school’s Clubs and Activities Coordinator.
While teaching at St. Michael’s College School, John was academic advisor for the St. Michael’s Majors of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and sports colour commentator on Rogers TV hockey and football broadcasts.
In 2021, he won the Loran Teachers Building Leaders Award, a national teaching award in Canada.
He holds a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education, a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education degrees from the University of Toronto.
John has also coached football at the University and professional levels, including the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Passionate about networking and elevating student learning, John believes schools have largely untapped resources in their immediate community that, if used, can bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and unique learning opportunities for students.
He is passionate about the new era of education.
When not teaching or reading, he enjoys staying active through in-line skating, skiing, and playing hockey.
